Shoegaze, new wave moment…

From Jake at True Hearts:

Genre: Shoegaze / Rock / Indie / Alternative

Influences: Brian Jonestown Massacre, Jesus & Mary Chain, My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive
Recommended if you Like: Autolux, Best Coast, Raveonettes, Surfer Blood

“Perfect Sound” is the new single/EP from Northern California outfit, Soft Crest. Featuring ex-members of the highly underrated Lujo Records band History Invades, Soft Crest are in the process of mixing their first full-length album for diy-label THRC. In the meantime, they have put together this free EP, which is comprised of a single from the record, a B-Side from their debut EP & remixes by The Eastern Wave, Mrenc, 330c, Sleepwalkers Baseball Club + more. “Perfect Sound” pours out of the speakers with reverb-soaked atmosphere and strikingly anthemic guitar & vocal lines. This one is not to be missed!

And another band, Museum, was sent my way and is a pretty good listen. They have downloads available from their website and their site. If you’re scanning this looking for recognizable names, I’ll just say now that they’re RIYL Interpol. I don’t, though, so maybe that should be more of a RIYLTOSOAMTPBNNTBI (Recommended If You Like The Original Sound Of And Maybe Their Predecessors But Not Necessarily The Band Itself) Interpol. German.

I’ve got some new links up on the side too, most notably: Actual Pain, who do some nice mixes (and another from Ryan Patterson) themselves, among other musical things; the Robotic Obscurities blog (Robotic Empire) which I can’t believe I haven’t linked until now–and they have a new RE mix up there; and Lost and Found, the Sons of Vesta site of demo, rare, etc MP3’s.

Also, many new, exciting mixes are in the works!! Check back for updates and surprises.
